Vroom Vroom!

Love them or hate them, Prada's latest runway shoes definitely make a statement. "I like classic cars."
That or "Look at my fancy ass Prada runway shoes. Neener neener neeeeeener!"

Either way, they've grown on me since I started writing this post. First reaction? These are hideous! Especially the first pair.
Yikes are we back in the 90's where I customized my flair legged Jnco jeans with flames going up the legs?? (true story) No thank you.
But now I'm seeing them as definite art pieces. They're pretty amazing (except the first one that I still hate) I love the brake lights on the back.  The chrome heels... the vintage car color palette. Great attention to detail.

 Cute bag!

I love this one. It reminds me of my very first dream car. A vintage pink Chevy Bel Air...

What do YOU think?? Too crazy? Just crazy enough?
Do you like the idea of heels as art or do you prefer your art to hang on the wall?

I say it every season... Miuccia Prada is a genius. I am SO excited to see what she has in store for us with Miu Miu this season. She never disappoints.

So funny, the top one is the only one I kind of like. Reminds me of Hermes - the Greek god, not the brand!

The rest are a bit too literal and way too ugly. And no thank you to a picture of a car on my Prada bag!

I find it really difficult to dislike any Prada/Miu Miu stuff, however I do really like the crazy-ness of these. I'm with you on Miuccia being a genius. LOVE the last shoe and bag to death though-they are super amazing.

I do like crazy ass shoes as art, but mostly on the runway. I mean, I would never wear the first shoe but I quite enjoy seeing it strut past on the runway. Having said that, I do own a few pairs that I consider works of art and that I happily wear! I would totally wear the third one. Its crazy in just the right amount ;)

Well I admit I wouldn't wear those shoes but they are all amazing and yeah I would hang 'em on the wall.

And speaking of art, here's a link to an illustration inspired by those Burberry creepers you posted.

For some reason the first ones come off as being cheap looking in a way the others don't. I'm not sure if this comes from having survived the 90s and seeing red flame print overdone and done badly or what. However, the others have a very cute and fashionable aspect to them.

The first ones are great! Wonder Woman heels! The rest I don't like as much.

In response to one of your last questions, I love shoes as art. If I knew how to underline the word love here, I would. I don't think art has to be the classic hang-on-the-wall kind. Why not turn an everyday item into something that makes an artistic statement?

The shoes you posted actually scare me a little. Like you, the first one is just too much to overcome. However, I do appreciate the attention to detail you mentioned. While I think they are a little impractical (what are you going to wear them with unless you're modeling Prada on the runway, anyway?), their authenticity is what intrigues me. Take a classic, strappy sandal and add vibrant, clashing colors. It's been done. Add an old-school car theme to them all? Never. The argument over whether or not these can be considered art is an interesting one. I'm curious to what people think. After all, to me - couture is art. It doesn't always have to be manufactured for retail. Just look at Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty exhibit - not everything there is even close to being wearable. However, it's art. It's famous. It's expression.

Do those brake lights light up when you walk like those kids sneakers? :-/

No. I'm sorry. I can't support this foolishness. I. Just. Can't.

It seems to me like prada is trying too hard with these shoes...:-/

i think those shoes are great to look at but to actually wear them is a little too tacky. I also hate the fact that prada, the most luxurious brand made them, they'r neither classy or timeless. They tacky and fund to look at.
