New Shoes, New Me?

Ok so you know it's hard to have a personal blog without getting personal.
I've said it before but I just want to reiterate... I am not myself right now. Going through a divorce, whether it's your choice or not, is fucking hard. Harder than I could have imagined. There are so many things I never considered, including that this is one of the biggest tests of true friendship I'd ever witness. It's hard to lose your partner and some of your friends at the same time. It's hard to hear people's negative opinions on what you feel is the right thing to do.
Anyway, you get the point... it's HARD.
So, I don't know why it has come to such a shock to me that I haven't wanted to do anything that I used to do -GET THIS- including shopping. My favorite thing ever.

WTF?

I have barely looked twice at shoes. I went through a period of about a month where I didn't wear a pair of heels once! I just couldn't. I joked that my feet were depressed but I'm not sure I was joking.
Then I bought the Miu Miu glitter shoes...

 TAH DAH!

...to cheer myself up. It worked for about 2.5 seconds and then it was back to the pits. And the flats. Then I really wasn't interested in lusting over things like shoes or blogging about shoes, until... New York. Good ol New York and the thrill of fashion week. I honestly don't care too much about going to a bunch of shows but there's just something in the air here. It's so... fashion-y!

Yesterday I bought what I think is one of the coolest shoes of the season. I'm obsessed with creepers! I wore them every day in high school and tried to design my own versions of them for both Betsey Johnson AND Harajuku Lovers but the buyers just didn't get them. They probably never will. They're not commercial enough. Pfffffft- whatever. I've noticed them popping on and off trend for years now. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU CREEPERS!

Anyway... so into Burberry I went with a clear mission. To get my statement shoe of the season. (Well, my non-glitter statement shoe. I'm making 2 statements really.)

I mean, are you kidding me? They're perfect! My shoe lust is back with a vengeance. I'm scared.

Do you love!? I know creepers aren't for everyone but what do YOU think??

Next shoe on my radar? Well I'm glad you ask. I am obsessing over this amazing heel from hell by Bally (kinda random) I'm hoping they'll come up with some more uppers because I'm not crazy about this one. Feels a little 2010 to me. I just love the heel and platform shape.

AND this super cool extremely curved heel by Walter Steiger... So cool!

I'm feeling ok today. I'm feeling more like The Shoe Girl than I have in a while.

YAY SHOES!!!!!!!!!

I'm so happy that you feel better! When I read your post about you and Ben it really hurt me, never thought I would actually feel that bad for someone I haven't even met! I have always enjoyed your blog and I hoop you can find the strength to continue posting again! All the best for you Celine, hugs and kisses from a big fan!

so sorry things are so tough right now. I feel for you. I really do.

Oh my God, those Miu Miu shoes are just to die for.

Love the heel shape of the others.

Happy to hear that getting over to NY did you some good mentally.

I am ALL ABOUT creepers this season! When I was at Magic I saw the Ellie for Bettie Page creeper wedges and I am definitely getting a pair when they start showing up places.

I also want a pair of the regular platform kind from TUK, to wear to concerts where I want a little height to be able to see the band, but don't necessarily want to be in a heel all night (people spill beer on pretty shoes- Murphy's Law).

Hope you can stay strong in the face of all you are going though. I've had several friends go through either a bad break up or divorce in the last year, and it hasn't been easy for anyone. I hope you do have some friends who have your back.

Take care!!

Love me some creepers. Quite honestly I can't remember who made them but there was a wedge pair at Loehman's SCP in the clearance section. I just about died for them but alas only size 11???? I hope to see more of these and find a pair that are just perfect for me.

Glad your back.

Firstly my condolances for what you are going through, it must be so very hard! It is good to have you back blogging, i enjoy following your posts, and for the most part agree with your fashions, however, creepers.....er no. Just no. They are just not cool/sexy/a good idea in any way shape or form. I put them on a par with crocs. Yes really.

Sabina said...

Those creepers are just..... wow. So amazing! Sorry the buyers didn't get them when you pitched 'em.

Also sorry to hear you're dealing with the inevitable loss of friendships due to people feeling the need to pick sides. Hang in there and keep doing things you love!

the walter steiger curves...GAG!,like, seriously in a good way. the miu miu glitter booties are so adorable i want to print out a picture of them and carry it in my wallet (i'm poor). the creepers i can't get into but i can respect the nostalgia.

I have faith in you, ShoeGirl! I think we all get in funks like this throughout life and you know what? Most come out on the other side even better than before and I know you will too, even if you feel exceptionally craptastic. You are such a caring, creative, supremely awesome person.
Glad you have some shoes that I take you to a higher place for the time being :)

Woohooo!!! Hoping you are coming back soon to stay! It is such a wonderful update.
Totally loving the Bally shoes- I'm not entirely sure why, perhaps the odd combination of toothpicks and lambswool? Hmmm...
Keep it coming!

So now that I am thinking about it. Why didn't you make creepers for your own collection?

Petite Cecile said...

Oh Celine! I am really shocked and sad for what are you going through. I remember when Agathe of Style Bites when trough the same and she dissapear. It sounds selfish but It was sad to not have her in the blogosphere any more and it will be sad not have you here too but of course, you have to choose the best for you.

It's weird too, to feel this kind of things for people that you don't really know and read everyday for years but it's true, it is. And I can tell that you feel the same with your readers.

You are one of the happiest bloggers that I follow, I really hope you pass all this and came up stronger and with a smile on your face!

I know this all sounds corny but it's trully what I will said to you with a hug included!

ps: shoe retail therapy is your best friend!! ;)

ps2: sorry for the crappy english, I am still an argentinian living in Spain and not practicing the language too much ;)

So glad to see you back. Sorry about the issues you are going through. Hope you can take small solace in the happiness your blog brings to people. but you truly are back with a vengeance.

Those creepers are quite a statement and those glitter shoes almost made me die they're so gorgeous. Love your line too; hope it does well.

Don't let my girlfriend know I was here, though, she'll know that watching too much Style Network with her is beginning to rubbing off on me. :(
